Five-Star Basketball Defense

Edited by Leigh Klein

"Defense is about being coachable." – Hubie Brown

The Five-Star Basketball camps have long been synonamous with the best in basketball instruction. Many great coaches have come through our camps and influenced the players and the sport. They have left a legacy of learning and education by sharing their ideas, notes, drills, philosophies with others and not being afraid to think out of the box.

The need to re-emphasize defense is great. With athleticism transforming the modern game, many core defensive fundamentals are not getting the attention that is necessary to allow for player progression and consistency. There is no shortcut to great defense. It requires tireless effort towards individual defensive techniques and team defensive concepts.

In this new book, we present a collection of defensive skill training, drills and coaching strategies from a selection of our current camp coaching staff. The purpose of this book is to inspire thought and to give both experienced and aspiring coaches the tools, techniques and philosophies that have shaped many great defenses so that they can mold them into their own defensive system that matches their personnel and coaching philosophy.

Coaches included in this volume include the following: Hubie Brown, Bernie Holowicki, Mike Feagans, Joe Stolzer, Tony Bergeron, Kevin Pigott, John Pigatti,Steven Culp, Dagan Nelson, Adam Parmenter, David Walsh, Shay Berry, Tony Martin, Steve Treffiletti, Adam Demorest and Al Barbosa.
