Atta Girl! A Celebration of Women in Sport
Alexandra Powe Allred
This is a revision of the book,
The Quiet Storm: A Celebration of Women in
Sport. At the time the book was
created/written, our competition was books written by athletes such as Mariah
Burton Nelson -- books that tended to talk about the injustices rather than
noting the victories.
While this book does discuss the difficult road traveled, this
is a book about pioneers, guts and glory. It is meant to be a fun read. This
book is, truly, a celebration of women in sport. Great strides have been made in
the sports world for women, made possible only by the great determination,
struggles, successes and failures of others who should be honored and admired.
"These are inspiring
stories of women who have persisted despite opposition and have fun playing
sports..." --
